Current Volunteer Opportunities

Share your time, expertise, and energy!

There are many ways to be involved at Key School. Whether you volunteer to assist in the classroom, accompany a class on a field trip, help plan a social event, obtain donations for the silent auction, or plant flowers in the Key schoolyard, your involvement at Key has an invaluable impact. Every effort frees a teacher for more direct contact with students or gives our children the care and attention they deserve.

Room parents

Room parents play an important role in assisting their child’s homeroom teacher and classroom, disseminating information, coordinating events and volunteers, and supporting the PTA. The room parent is not required to complete all tasks but is responsible for coordinating the efforts to have other parents help out. To volunteer or for more information, contact kathy@nadherny.com.

Friday Folder volunteers

The Key PTA is looking for volunteers to sign up to do Friday Folders for grades K-3. Every Friday during the school year, students bring home a Friday Folder, which contains their schoolwork and important messages from their teachers, the Key School administration, Arlington Public Schools, and the Key PTA. Volunteers can chose what day and what classroom they’d like to support! Please e-mail Kathy Nadherny (kathy@nadherny.com ) for more information or questions. Click here to download the Key School Friday Folder “How To” Guidelines. A volunteer sign-up link will be provided soon! To volunteer or for more information, contact kathy@nadherny.com.

Got skills? We can use them!

We have a wonderful community, and here are a few ways to get involved that might be just what you are interested in:·

  • Graphic design – Help promote our events – no experience needed, seriously!
  • Website updates – Use a simple tool to upload info to our site!
  • Social events – Help host a parents-only or family social event for your child’s grade!

Each of these requires a limited time commitment, and we respect any time constraints you have. Contact PTA President Dedra Curteman (president@keypta.org) if you are interested, or if you have ideas or questions!
